Buying Phonak hearing aids is probably the easier step. Connecting it with your devices is, however, a different story altogether. This article will provide you with a step-by-step on how to connect your hearing aids with Android and iPhone devices. We will also explore how to pair your hearing aids with your device through the myPhonak app.

 

How To Connect a Phonak Hearing Aid to an iPhone

In order to be able to connect your hearing aids with any device (Android/Apple), you will first be required to set up the myPhonak app on your iPhone.

 

Setting up the myPhonak App

Follow the below steps in order to set up the myPhonak app on your iPhone:

Step 1

Download the myPhonak app from the respective app/play store of your device. It would be the App Store for an iPhone and Google Play for Android devices.

Step 2

Install the app on your device after downloading it.

Step 3

On the third step, you have the option to either create an account and register with your email address, or continue without, by tapping on ‘Continue’. However, if your hearing aids support the health features of the app, you will be required to create an account.

Step 4

Next, you will be directed to the ‘Privacy Policy’ page. After reading the terms and conditions, check the box for having read and agreeing with the policy. Then click ‘Proceed’.

Step 5

The app will then show a screen where you will be asked if you would like to share your app usage data for improvement of the product. You can either choose to accept or not. Click ‘Continue’ and you’re done setting up your myPhonak app.

Step 6

When you hit ‘Continue’, you will be able to pair your hearing aid with your device, as discussed below.

 

Connecting Hearing Aids with iPhone

Once you’ve set up the myPhonak app on your iPhone, follow the steps below to connect your hearing aids with the phone:

 

Step 1

On your iPhone home screen, tap on the ‘Settings’ icon. In the ‘Settings’, tap on ‘Bluetooth’, and then on the slider to turn it on.

Step 2

If you have hearing aids with a replaceable battery, open the battery door. After about five seconds, close the battery door.

If you have rechargeable hearing aids, turn them off and on again by pressing and holding the power button.

Step 3

After a few seconds of doing this, your hearing aids will appear under the list of devices available to connect (on your iPhone). Select the hearing aids and pair. You will hear a beep in your hearing aids upon successful pairing.

If one of the hearing aids fails to connect, repeat the above process and you should be able to connect them.

 

How To Pair Phonak Hearing Aids to Android

To connect your hearing aids with an Android device, first set up the myPhonak app. Then, follow the steps below:

Step 1

On the home screen of your Android phone’s, tap on the ‘Settings’ icon. In the ‘Settings’, tap on ‘Bluetooth’ and then on the slider to turn it on.

Step 2

If your hearing aids have a replaceable battery, open the battery door. Keep it open for about five seconds and then close it.

If you have rechargeable hearing aids, press, and hold the button to turn them off and on again.

Step 3

After a few seconds your hearing aids will appear under the list of ‘Available Devices’ on your device. Select the hearing aids and pair. You will hear a beep in your hearing aids upon successful pairing.

If one of the hearing aids fails to connect, repeat the above process and they should connect.

 

Connect Hearing Aid With myPhonak App

Connecting your hearing aids with iPhone or Android devices is one way of doing it. You can also connect your hearing aids with the myPhonak app. Follow the steps below to connect:

 

Step 1

The first step is downloading and setting up the app, as described above.

Step 2

In order to start pairing your hearing aids, you first need to restart them. If your hearing aids have a replaceable battery, simply open the battery door, and close it after about five seconds. In case of rechargeable hearing aids, turn them off by pressing and holding the power button, and on again.

Step 3

Click ‘Continue’ in the app after Steps 1 and 2. The app will start searching for devices. When found, your hearing aids, with their names will appear on the screen. Both hearing aids will appear separately, with ‘LE’ in front of each of their names.

Step 4

Click on each hearing aid and simply accept when asked if you would like to pair your hearing aids.

If you’re using an Android device, you will be asked for permission to activate ‘location’. It is mandatory to activate ‘location’ when pairing them for the first time.

On an iOS device, you will be asked if you would like to pair the device or not. Select ‘Pair’.

Step 5

The app will start the pairing process. You will then be asked for permission to link your hearing aids with the device. Click ‘Accept’.

Step 6

Once the hearing aids are successfully connected with your device, it will pop up a message indicating you have completed the process. Tap ‘Ok’.

Re-Paring A Phonak Hearing Aid

If for some reason, you are facing a problem and would like to re-pair your hearing aids, follow the steps below:

 

Step 1

Open the myPhonak app and scroll down to ‘Devices’ and tap on it.

Step 2

Tap on your hearing aids on the ‘Devices’ screen. On the screen, select ‘Forget Devices’. It will then ask if you would like to forget the device. Select ‘Yes, Forget’.

Exit the app and go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings. Forget or unpair all your hearing aids.
